ABOUT

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." — Anaïs Nin

Hi, I’m Therese

I’m naturally a curious person. As the youngest of four children, and the only girl, I always wondered how the world worked and why people acted the way they did - especially boys! For most of my childhood I aligned myself as a “tomboy.” My world revolved around sports, competition, hiding my emotions and “being strong.”  As I grew into adolescence and my feminine side could no longer hide, I have spent my life learning to balance and appreciate the dance of the masculine and feminine energies that reside within. Along this journey I yearned for connection and to understand how others approach their life struggles and what tools have supported them.

Fresh out of college I began my high school teaching career at an all boys high school. As well as teaching multiple classes, I coached the freshman boys soccer team. I then moved on to teach at an all girls high school and eventually at a co-ed middle school and high school. I worked in education for over ten years holding various positions including English and Religious Studies Teacher, Campus Ministry Coordinator,  Director of Service Learning, Soccer and Swim Coach, and School Counselor. My passion for psychotherapy stems from my work as an educator. I found that many of my students were seeking more than just a textbook education, they wanted to grow more deeply as a person and questioned the how of life. Earning my masters degree and becoming a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist allows me to take that journey further with clients.

I received my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Holistic Studies, from John F. Kennedy University. The degree combines both Transpersonal Psychology and Somatic Psychology, focusing on spirituality and the body, thus giving me a foundation to work with clients on a deeper level.

Now as a mom and partner, I have an affection for working with parents and families. The adjustment to parenthood is monumental and can sometimes feel isolating and overwhelming. Raising children often activates our own childhood wounds. Therapy offers a safe space to explore how you want to be as a parent, not as you think  you “should”  be. Give yourself a “timeout”  to discover your own style of parenting your child, as well as yourself.

Are You Ready?

Change happens at your own pace - in Perfect and Divine Timing.

HOW you do something is more important than what you are doing.

My understanding of psychotherapy is that it offers the sacred space and time for discovery, healing and creating shifts that will ultimately allow you to live life more fully and authentically.

We look at what keeps you stuck in behaviors that no longer serve you or those around you. Through process work that includes models such as Mindfulness, CBT, Internal Family Systems and Somatic understanding, you can learn to “welcome” all the different parts of yourSelf with compassion and understanding. Heal parts that have been neglected and discover lasting tools that will support your entire Self in living your life to its fullest potential.

Working together we will explore your deepest desires and what keeps you from achieving them.

We will approach the relationship with the understanding that you want to discover a life that works best for all. By Trusting in the process and trusting yourSelf, you will come to see that you are exactly where you need to be at this moment.

By revealing how you approach life, you can find freedom and movement away from conditioned responses and into a world of choice and opportunity.

I look forward to sharing this Journey of Discovery with you.
